Components that Encumber Church Revitalization Part VI

Feb 17, 2015

In most churches in need of church revitalization or one of the other Seven Pillars of Church Revitalization there are some elements, ingredients, or instruments that become components that are either already encumbering or will eventually impede the churches efforts to revitalize its ministry.  Once a church becomes burdened with the need to begin its renewal efforts a careful look at some of the possible components that encumber most churches would be helpful!

Think about it!

What do you believe are the primary components that encumber, burden, and hinder most churches from becoming revitalized or re-engaged in effective ministry and evangelism? Thus far we’ve visited first five components that encumber church revitalization. This week, we will look at the remaining four components.

Number Six – Not Able to Create a Compelling Vision for the Declining Churches Future

Church Revitalization is something in which that most pastors and young seminarians have not been trained! It is quite difficult to lead a congregation into revitalization if you have not first been trained or presently have a Church Revitalizer Coach helping you navigate the path towards renewal.  Creating a healthy compelling vision for a church in need of revitalization is a bit more difficult than it is for the healthy church or even the new church plant!  Part of this is because there have been so many visions offered in the past that were not finished or did not come to fruition that the rank and file, no matter how small it is now, have become callous towards any “God given vision” due to past performances. It is well said that past performances are an indicator of future potential.  Thus it is difficult to get people to rally around a new vision when they are experiencing “Vision Fatigue” from all of the previous visions that did not get carried out.  Any church revitalization pastor would do well to receive a little coaching in this area before he rolls out the next plan that most laity will receive less than enthusiastically.
